Stages of Cat Sleep
Many people are aware that humans go through different stages of sleep during the night, including both non-REM and REM stages. Few realize, however, that cats also have various stages of sleep during the ... uh, night day whatever. These ranges from the sphinx, or cat loaf stage all the way to full out, paws in the air, only-wakes-for-canned-food stage.
It is in these deeper stages that they do their best work.
